Pressing DuraCotton 50

DuraCotton 50 Transfers

DuraCotton 50 TShirt Laser Transfer Paper

Heat Pressing Instructions

Pre-Press Shirt:

Pre-Press shirt in heat press to remove moisture – usually 2 – 5 seconds.  Use same press settings as suggested for pressing DuraCotton 50 Transfers.

Applications:

100% cotton, 50-50s, Polycotton blends, Canvas, 100% Polyester, Sweatshirts, Quilts, Mouse pads, Plastic, Pillow Cases, Coasters, Puzzles, Caps, Wood, Crafts, …

Printer – Copier Setup:

For latest Printers – Copiers – Settings (click)

Fan paper to separate sheets

Feed paper from manual tray – single or multi sheets

Print / Copy onto the coated side of the transfer paper

Print / Copy FLIP HORIZONTAL  (software setting)

Print / Copy using   PLAIN PAPER  (Labels 1  – Labels 2 for Oki Printers) – varies with printer / copier / location

Press Settings:

375 F / 190 C degrees, 25 seconds, heavy pressure on a manual press (40+ psi)

Wait 3 seconds, peel diagonally while still warm.

Peel too soon – some or of the toner may not release to target substrate.

Peel too late – paper may not release or may stretch the shirt as you pull hard.  If required, re-heat the transfer paper – about 10 seconds and peel sooner.

Settings are approximate and require fine-tuning for your press

Notes:

1. experiment with heat press settings (time, pressure) to achieve optimum results

2. paper should peel virtually 100% clean – leaving 99% + color on shirt – virtually every time

3. if you delay the peeling of the carrier paper too long, the paper will not release.  Simply press again (about 5 seconds) and peel again without delay.

Washing:

Turn Garment inside out for washing

Wash in COLD Water (maximum 40 C degrees)

Use MILD detergent – NO BLEACH, no bleach alternatives

Hang Dry or Tumble Dry with cool / warm air setting

Do NOT use fabric softeners

Do NOT dry clean nor commercial laundry

Wash Results vary with toner used – always test for optimum results

Other Notes:

We recommend using RGB colors when creating designs.  These tend to print with best colors.

Printing large black areas is not an ideal application for virtually all laser printers – copiers. You may wish to compare both spot and process solid colors for best results. A process solid color will put down more toner than a spot solid color.  These are choices available in your graphics creation software.

Printing light solid colors may result in the shirt color showing through.

The printer can only put down strong colors – so to achieve a pink (as an example only), the laser puts down a mixture of red and white spots – the lighter the pink, the more white spots (assuming a white shirt).

To achieve a full coverage pink, you need to adjust the pink density. This can be done in two ways – either with a darker pink or a different color format (RGB vs CYMK vs Pantone – again controlled by your graphics software).
